Employment of older workers: towards an evolution of morals?

Even if the French are still likely to view the employment of older little benefit for the company, the evolution of opinion on the work of seniors is no less noticeable. Thus, nearly 20% of employers surveyed in a study conducted by DARES on the work of senior citizens have expressed their fears about the loss of certain skills. The reason? 25% of total employment represented by workers over age 50 hold knowledge and skills complement those of the new generation. The retirement of some of these employees would in fact the loss of these key skills.

For 10 years, senior employment is more acceptable

The results of the investigation by the DARES on employment of older indicate that the employers concerns related to the aging of their employees have decreased over the course of 10 years. Less worried about the increase in the quota of their senior employees, they are about 50% to consider projects of training and development of working hours of older. These results seem to be part of an overall change in reliance on senior employees. However, the employment plan for older shows that companies rarely included recruitment targets, focusing instead on job retention.
