Signature of the new Convention Aeras

Some people are denied access to bank loans, mortgage, consumer finance and credit retrieval, because of their health status, past or present. Aeras Convention (make, borrow with an increased risk of Health) was established in 2007 in order to help these people better access to credit in order to pay like everyone else some substantial purchases. But this device is unknown to the general public, and therefore not use them. Negotiations have been conducted for a year: they finally end up with the participation of Minister of Economy Christine Lagarde, Xavier Bertrand colleagues (Health) and Roselyne Bachelot (solidarity and social cohesion) and associations of patients, banks and insurers.

The new agreement Aeras will include additional measures, which come into force on 1 September 2011. It provides that insurers will have to systematically study the ability of a borrower to purchase insurance standard, even if it has suffered or is suffering from a serious illness, and therefore has an increased risk of health. In addition, the agreement also provides for the creation of a new insurance product ready: it will cover death and disability, for all diseases. Similarly, the new version of the agreement will take into account advances in medicine: doctors associations and insurers will meet in working groups in order to achieve shared diagnoses, particularly in terms of probabilities. The economy minister says that "some cancers that are now completely healed should not be considered substandard risks to health." A unique medical questionnaire, common to all insurance companies and banking institutions, will be completed by the attending physician, to open the dialogue between the two parties. Finally, there is provided a range of care premiums, that is to say the additional cost borne by the borrower, for people on low incomes.

For those considered to pose a health risk, this evolution of the Convention Aeras, should facilitate access to all types of loans, debt consolidation loan, mortgage or consumer credit .
