The French have more than 15 million domestic animals (dogs and cats), which may be added birds, rodents, fish and other NAC (new pets: snakes, ferrets ...).
The damage caused by these animals or the cost that they can generate in terms of health can be substantial. However no formal directive in the hexagon n'astreint owners of domestic animals to be insured, except in the case of dogs classified as at risk (category 1 and 2). We invite you to discover our tips for choosing your insurance system and share your experiences. It is easy these days to protect a dog or cat, but it becomes very difficult to provide other breed pets. Thus, very few insurers agree to protect particularly NAC, deemed too dangerous (liability insurance).
Two principles of insurance are dedicated to pets: responsibility and mutual health.
Civil Liability for Pets
For damage caused by pets tierse person with a master's responsibility will be affected. Thus, Article 1385 of the Civil Code stipulates that the owner of the animal is responsible for his pet even if it is lost or has escaped his vigilance.
Although this mutual is not mandatory, it will be interesting for teachers to acquire a mutual will cover the costs incurred for damage caused by their dog or cat. If the pet is a dog called "dangerous" this protection becomes mandatory.
